Inside Out

Complete refurbishment of 5-storey townhouse

The client loved timber, and the design uses curved timber walls as a linking element between two floors and the roof terrace in the rear extension and on the terrace/studio on the fifth floor. Ipe (a tropical hardwood) can be used both on the exterior and interior, and was a natural choice. The combination of timber and stone cladding on the curved and straight walls of the rear extension together with internal and external walk-on glass floors, seamlessly connects the basement, ground floor and terrace. The sliding roof light provides an opening to the sky from the lounge below on a sunny day.
