Public Buildings

Proposal for a new library - Bodo, Norway

The library is organized as a continuous “promenade”, which starts in the public realm outside, where the building opens itself up to its surrounding. Part of the complex has an accessible roof, which acts as part of a large amfi-theatre.

Internally the building is organized in split half level floors with ramps and staircases leading the visitor on a journey through the building, which houses public programmes for various user groups. Internal light shafts let daylight deep into the building and also allow visual connections between the floors. Strategically placed large glazed areas of the façade facilitate spectacular views of the town’s harbor.
